The quantity of typical products and recipes that can be tasted in Tuscany is unlimited: the famous Florentine steak, that you can only taste exclusively in this area and nowhere else, it’s made from a particular cut of meat from the prestigious breed of cattle called Chianina. This ancient breed lives in the sorrounding of Siena and the food table production of this meat reaches a quantity that is enough just to meet the demand of Tuscanian tables.
There are also the fegatelli (with which is made the dough for the famous crostini), the typical cold cuts (finocchiona, salami, raw ham and Cinta Senese), the typical saltless bread, the olive oil bathed schiacciata , trippa and lampredotto (traditional Florentine meatbased food), the excellent pecorino cheese of Pienza, several pasta (pici senesi or pappardelle) with bushmeat salsa, pappa al pomodoro and ribollita (well knowed bread soups of the region), and cantucci (almond cookies to taste plains or with vin santo).
